Healthy eating, body image and working out
It’s normal to struggle with body image, especially after or during a breakup. When you find yourself slipping into the blues, it’s tempting to pull down the black out shades, wear sweats all day and eat an entire cake. You can have your feelings but know they aren’t going to dominate your life forever. When you hit that time limit, take an opposite action. Go to work, hit the gym, meet friends. Feelings pass and action works!
If you have found that post breakup there has been more bingeing and less working out, don’t beat yourself up. Meghan from Lincoln Park Minute has some great tips to get you back on track. First, she suggests it is all about balance. Eat a diet as clean as possible for you but don’t sacrifice your social life for it! Meaning if you want to have pizza and a glass of wine with your friends, go for it! Everything in moderation is ok. The same concept applies to your workout schedule. Meghan suggests not to set unrealistic goals for yourself, i.e. working out every day, as you will be disappointed with yourself when you can’t reach them.
Another helpful tip is to listen to your body, if you have a busy work week, don’t stress yourself out by trying to fit in too many workouts. It’s ok to give yourself some time off, your body doesn’t need the extra stress!
Lastly, encourage your new positive habits by celebrating your hard work. Lost 5 lbs? AMAZING! Made it to the gym consistently for two weeks? Way to go! Keep reminding yourself of your successes to stay on track. For full article, visit Lincoln Park Minute.
